About the Writer and Producer
John Shier

John Shier is the writer, producer, and director of Jewels of the Jungle. He holds B.S. and MFA degrees. He was trained in physics and engineering. His first love is the filming of Grizzly bears wherever they may roam. He was able to successfully prepare a National Science Foundation grant to film Jewels of the Jungle. Filming was done on location in such diverse places as the Bolivian and Peruvian Amazonian areas, Tasmania, Northern Territory of Australia, Montana State and Brigham Young Universities. He also acquired footage at Eli Lilly Co in Indianapolis, Indiana as well as the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. His wife Sara Shier edited Jewels of the Jungle and many others have provided help with music, local set ups and travel arrangements.
